Brenda Lynn Stewart, 55, passed away at her home in Salado on Sunday, December 6, 2015 after a courageous and dignified battle with cancer. Brenda will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Brenda was born in Fort Worth, Texas on November 26, 1960, to James Mack Brown and Doris Charlene Henson Brown. She was raised in California, where she completed high school. At that time, the family returned to Texas and eventually settled in Salado. It was there, in 1992, that she met her husband, Bob Stewart of Salado. They married on February 2, 2000 in Las Vegas on what Bob lovingly refers to as “her day”. Brenda was a loyal and fervent friend to those she loved and cared for. She will always be remembered for her love of celebrations and willingness to create a party. She believed that the small things in life should be celebrated to their fullest. Brenda’s loyalty and devotion extended to her dogs – they were not pets to her, they were “her babies” and were treated as such. She loved and spoiled them beyond measure, as she did everyone she cared for. In return, she always felt the love and affection her dogs gave to her on a daily basis. Brenda was an avid pool player in the Central Texas League, participating on many teams that earned spots in the National Finals in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2005, she led the 1st Ladies team in Central Texas to the National Tournament, placing 2nd in the USA. The memories created during that time were so special to her throughout the remainder of her life. Again, in 2012, she led a 2nd Ladies Team to Las Vegas , winning the Best Team Shirt in the USA. Again, the memories created with “my girls” were so precious to her. Whatever Brenda strived for, it was done with excellence in mind. Her many teammates and opponents will fondly remember her as the “Defense Queen”, and most have certainly learned something from her. Brenda worked at Scott & White Health Plan for 22 years where she excelled in her career and acquired many friendships that she treasured dearly. She then worked for FirstCare in Austin for 2 years where she quickly became a dear friend to those she worked with. The family wishes to thank Dr. Christian Cable and Dr. Suparna Mantha for their loving and compassionate care of her during her final journey. Brenda is survived by her husband, Bob Stewart, of Salado, and a grandson, Alex Stewart, of Belton, cousins, and many friends. Preceding Brenda in death were her parents James and Doris Brown; and her brother Haldon Lee Brown. A celebration of Brenda’s life and visitation will be Friday, December 11th, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Road, Temple, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 12th at Scanio-Harper.
