

Charles (Charlie) Fontaine Dupree, 59, of Troy Texas lost his battle with cancer on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 12:01 am. Charlie was born September 11, 1952 in San Marcus, Texas to Joe Charles "JC" Dupree and Taffy Weatherford Dupree. In 1966 his family moved to Temple, Texas where he later graduated from Temple High School in 1970. He attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Charlie was an Engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad for 10 years prior to owning and operating Air Sweeper Service and Dupree Remanufacturing Engine Warehouse. He was last employed as a Railroad Task Trainer for Luminant Mining, Kosse, Texas. On June 21, 1980 Charlie married the love of his life, Kathleen "Kathy" Mader Dupree Charlie's top priority was always supporting his two sons, Chad and Drew. They were his pride and joy. He was always actively involved in their lives whether it was coaching little league, being a scout leader, building race cars or just cheering from the sidelines. It was always important to Charlie "to be there" for all his family and friends. Charlie also served on the Troy ISD School Board from 2002-2004. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Charles Dupree. Survivors include his loving wife, Kathleen Mader Dupree of 32 years of Troy, Texas; two sons, Charles Chad Dupree and fiancée Meredith Ann Fischer of Waco, Texas and Drew Daniel Dupree and sweetheart Sarah Elizabeth Herry of Temple, Texas; mother Catherine (Taffy) Martin and her husband Robert Martin of Temple, Texas; three brothers, Philip Dupree of Troy, Texas, Maury Dupree of Temple, Texas and Stephen Dupree and wife Pam of Belton, Texas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 21st, 2012, at Scanio-Harper Funeral home in Temple, Texas. Tropical attire is welcomed and encouraged as that is what Charlie wanted. A private burial will be held at a later date in Kyle, Texas. Charlie was an avid supporter of youth baseball for the community. He actively worked alongside many others to improve the playing fields for the youth of Troy.
