

Charles M. Lott, age 85, of Temple died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in a local hospital. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 3, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Koinm officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Greathouse Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Lott was born on June 27, 1924 in Milam County near Bryant Station to Milton Payne and Ora Ella Jay (Brown) Lott. He attended school in Academy and received a B.S. degree in Agriculture and a Master's degree in Education from Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy during WWII. He married Shirley M. Messer on October 25, 1945 in Temple. He taught school in Holland, Salado, Temple, Belton and retired from the Little River-Academy ISD where he taught agriculture. He was a member of Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed farming and ranching. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Malcolm Lee Lott and a brother, Harold Lott. Survivors include his wife, Shirley M. Lott of Temple, daughter, Sharlene Lott Hoelscher and husband, Finny of Temple, two grandchildren, Ky Allen Hoelscher of Houston, Lacy Lee Mackie and husband, William of Temple and two great-grandchildren, Halee and Mason Mackie. Also surviving are two sisters, Elva Ruth Dooley and husband, B. A. of Waco, Vivian Stewart of Clifton and one brother, Richard Lott and wife, Louise of Temple. Pallbearers are Bruce Rea, Duke Andrews, William Mackie, Bobby Lott, Alton L. Sheppard and Lenny Hoelscher. Honorary pallbearer is Janet Lott Carpenter. Memorial donations may be made to the Roof Fund at Heights Baptist Church, 1220 S. 49th Street, Temple, TX 76504.
