
Colonel (Ret) Clarence A. Lucas of Morgan's Point Resort, Texas passed away Friday, April 20, 2007 after a short battle with leukemia. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, April 23 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 South Highway 195, Killeen, Texas. A memorial service will be at 12:00 noon on Monday at Covenant Lutheran Church, 4202 Hickory Road in Temple with Pastor Steve Qualben officiating. Visitation will be 6 8 PM Sunday, April 22, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple. He was born July 4, 1928 in the Hamilton County community of Shive to Ernest and Clara Selheimier Lucas. Beginning in 1948, Clarence served for 36 years with the Texas Army National Guard in a full time roll, first in the aviation field, where he was a pilot of both fixed and rotary wing aircraft, and later as Director of Maintenance. After retirement, Clarence served on the City Council of Morgan's Point Resort, the Church Council of Covenant Lutheran Church of Temple and the Bell County Texas Health Board. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Thelma Harvill Lucas of Morgan's Point Resort and his son, Clarence, Jr. of Austin. The family requests memorials may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Covenant Lutheran Church.
