

Funeral services for Curtis Lane Smalley, 56, of Holland will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Salado with Rev. Scott Mescher officiating. Private burial will be held at Wilson Valley Cemetery. Mr. Smalley died Wednesday at his home. Mr. Smalley was born May 26, 1958 in Lockney to Gerald Smalley and Dorothy Pierce Smalley. He married Marla Joplin Dec. 1, 1979. He was the manager of Water and Waste Water operations for the City of Waco for the past three years. Before that he worked, in Central Texas, for the Brazos River Authority for twenty years. He was past president of Water Enviroment Association of Texas, was a member of Water Environment Federation and was an officer and worked with the Bell County Youth Fair and Livestock Show. He lived in Little River-Academy for twenty years and moved to Holland ten years ago. Survivors include his wife Marla Smalley of Holland; three daughters Jerrica Gregory and her husband Justin of Temple, Jennisty Thomason and husband Ricky of Holland and Jacoda Smalley of Lubbock; four grandchildren Kinslee Thomason, Weslee Thomason, Brennan Gregory and Lochlan Gregory; one brother Kelly Smalley and his wife Ronna of Petersburg; one sister Penny Smalley Anderson of Dallas; father-in-law and mother-in-law Gene and Jo Joplin of Salado; brother-in-law Mark Joplin and his wife Becky of Lubbock, brother-in-law Marty Joplin of Andrews; sister-in- law Randi Eakin and her husband Ron of Flower Mound and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Water Environment Association of Texas 1825 Fort View Road Austin, Texas 78704. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
