
Life-time Bell County resident Donald Aycock passed away on May 19, 2006, at his home in the Whitehall community. He was proud of the fact he had lived on the same farm for all of his 83 years and that he was the grandson of the pioneer families of John Milton & Carolyn Aycock of Oenaville, and Hugh & Peggy Ricks of Temple. Donald was born to Edward Clarence and Mary Ena Ricks Aycock on June 23, 1923. He was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters: Kitty Sue Aycock, Milton Clarence (M.C.) Aycock, Mamie Inda Aycock McLaughlin, Bobby Hugh Aycock, Mattie Maude Aycock, Virgil Aycock, John T. Aycock, Edgar F. Aycock, Haughty Neoma Aycock Hilliard, and Lee Ronald Aycock, infant. He was also preceded in death by a daughter who died at birth. Donald was always very active in his church and community. He had served as a Baptist deacon since he was 28 years old. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Moffat. He played baseball with the Charcoal Burners of Moffat while in high school. He received several awards for his service to the 4-H Club and FFA and helped sponsor Moody Little League baseball. He helped organize the Bell County Youth Fair, was the first president of the Moody Young Farmers, and was awarded the Outstanding Farmer award. He raised and showed registered Ramboulet sheep which he sold all over the State of Texas. He helped organize and was a past president of the Moffat Water Supply Corporation. Although involved in farming and ranching most of his life, Donald worked as Assistant Deputy in the Bell County Tax Office for 10 years and as Tax Assessor-Collector for 10 years with the Belton School District. He then retired to hunt and fish and enjoy life. Donald Aycock is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Hatter Aycock; one son, Jimmie Don, and daughter-in-law, Marie; one grandson, Jimmie Don Aycock, Jr. and wife Trish; one granddaughter, Michelle Marie Aycock Smith and husband Codie; 4 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Madison, Casper, and Casey. Funeral services will held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Moffat with Dr. Joe Broadway and Rev. Randy Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Pendleton Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-5 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2006 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
