Doris G. Thomas

Doris Grisham Buckley Thomas, age 90 of Temple, passed from this life on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, May 8th at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Dr. Don Lynn officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park.  Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Thomas was born December 28, 1926 in Lubbock to Delbert M. and Lela Garrett Grisham.  At the age of six she moved with her family to Bell County where she lived the remainder of her life.  She graduated from Troy High School in 1945 and married Eugene Buckley in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1967. In 1973 she married Jack Thomas. He died in 1983. She was an active member of Baptist churches for many years, receiving Jesus Christ as her savior at a tabernacle revival at a young age. Following her marriage to Mr. Thomas, she joined First Christian Church in Temple, where she continued to worship and serve until her death (or as long as she was able).  She worked in a number of offices as a secretary and/or bookkeeper, with almost fourteen years as a church secretary after Mr. Thomas’ death. In addition to her husbands and parents deaths, she was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. Survivors include one daughter, Sheri Hagan and husband, Curtis of Temple, two stepdaughters, Margaret Carol Young of Killeen and Linda Roberts of Dover, DE.  Also surviving is one granddaughter, one grandson as well as two great-grandsons, three step-grandsons, two great-granddaughters and a number of beloved nieces and nephews.
