Doris Patricia Mays

Doris Patricia Mays, 78, of Troy, Texas died on Sunday, December 17, 2006 at 6:30 a.m. at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at the Belton Church of Christ with Ministers James LeFan and Joe Baisden officiating. The family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home and Tuesday afternoon at the Troy Church of Christ following the interment at Bellwood Memorial Park. Doris was Secretary-Treasurer of Indeco Sales, Inc./Maco Mfg. in Belton, Texas. Doris and her husband, Lee Mays co-owners of Indeco Sales/Maco Mfg., donated the land to the Troy Public Schools for the Edna Bigham Mays Elementary School and built a new building for the Troy Church of Christ and donated a library to Lubbock Christian School. Doris was born March 26, 1928 in Temple, Texas to Thomas Pattric Caffrey and Bessie Louise (Damron) Caffrey and received her education in a private parochial school. Doris married Byron Lee Mays on April 18, 1946, 60 years of marriage. Survivors are her husband, Lee Mays of Troy; her children and their spouses, Patrick Lynn Mays & Raylynn of Troy; Jerry Lee Mays & Laura of Temple; Patricia Ann Goldston & Homer of Hurst; Byron Edward Mays & Rebecca of Troy; her sisters, Peggy Cole of Temple and Betty Arnold of California; a sister-in-law Frances McFarland & husband Glyn of Bartlesville, OK; a brother-in-law Wayne Mays & wife Carroll of Joaquin, TX; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Tom Caffrey, a sister Elizabeth Elliott, a grand-daughter Lasandra Lee Mays, brother-in-law Tome Mays and Raymond Mays and sister-in-law Jane Tolbert. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Noah Mays, Chris Lewis, Patrick Mays, Justin Mays, Kevin Goldston, Wayne Goldston, and Austin Mays. Honorary pallbearers will be Rowdy Mays and Brady Mays. A memorial has been established for the library of the Mays Elementary School at Troy, Texas. Those who wish may send their contributions to Troy ISD, P. O.
