Doris Ann Wimberley

A visitation for Doris will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Rd., Temple, TX 76504.

A funeral service will take place Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Rogers, 5 Prairie Ave., Rogers, TX 76569. A burial will follow at Rogers Cemetery, Rogers Cemetery Rd., Rogers, TX 76569.

Doris served her country in the United States Navy, graduated from Claremore Community College (Rogers State University) in Claremore, Oklahoma, worked as a ticket agent for American Airlines and was the Travel Agent for Scott and White Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rogers, oversaw Operation Christmas Child for several years, and was the owner of Quilts and Things out of Rogers, Texas.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years Floyd H. Wimberley, daughters Petra Jo King of Vero Beach, FL, Susan Renee Batts and husband Billy of Springtown, Texas, 6 grandchildren, Brittany King Moler and husband Tyler, Chelsea King, Daniel King and wife Mallorie, Jordan King and husband Logan Harp, Matthew Joseph Champagne and Ryan Jacob Batts and 1 great-granddaughter Capri Harp. Doris is also survived by her sister Lena Stockstill of New Orleans, LA and sister-in-law Lillie Esponge of Gonzales, LA.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Terry Esponge and sisters Adrina Ladner and Joann O'Pry.
