
Dorothy Lassiter, age 87, of Temple died Monday, February 5, 2007 in a local nursing home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 8, at First Christian Church with Dr. Jerry Kirkpatrick officiating. Private burial will be in North Belton Cemetery. Mrs. Lassiter was born November 5, 1919 in Belton to Elma and Virginia Birdwell Wilson. She was a graduate of Belton High School where she was a cheerleader. She married James T. Lassiter on September 16, 1972. She worked for the City of Temple water department for 11 years and 18 years with the Bell County Tax Office in Temple where she retired as manager in 1986. She was a member of First Christian Church in Temple and Scott & White Hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Virginia Russell and Mary Nell Stanley, two brothers, Charles "Chili" Wilson and E. L. Wilson and one grandson, Christopher Wollard. Survivors include her husband, James T. (Jim) Lassiter, two daughters, Sherry Lewis of Waco and Sandra Shaffner of Temple, two sisters, Glenda Jo Henderson of Temple, Darline Womack and husband, Charlie of Fort Worth and a sister-in-law, Iva Lee Payne and husband, Garland of Hamlin. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Steven Blake Wollard and wife, Susan of Belton, Lauren Pruitt and husband, Todd of Waco and five great grandchildren, Katie and Grace Wollard and Kyler, Caleb and Ainsley Pruitt. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Christian Church or Lighthouse Hospice.
