
Dr. James Harold Wuensche, 76, died Thursday, March 25, 2010 in Temple, Texas at Cornerstone Gardens nursing center after battling cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 29th, at First Lutheran Church in Temple with Pastor Patricia Dietrich officiating. Graveside services will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple. Jim was born in Bishop, Texas on August 22, 1933 to John Andrew Wuensche and Julia Theiss Wuensche. He attended St. Paul Lutheran Church School in Bishop, Texas through eighth grade and graduated from W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1952. He went to Texas A & M University, graduating with a degree in Agricultural Economics in 1956. After graduation, Jim enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1956 to 1958 and later in the U.S. Army Reserves. In 1961, he enrolled in the University of Texas Dental School in Houston. While at church in Houston, Jim met Anita Louise Stroebel, and they were married on September 2, 1962 in Anita's hometown of Cisco, Texas. After Jim graduated from dental school in 1965, they moved to Temple where he practiced dentistry until 2002. Jim loved practicing dentistry where he enjoyed helping others and made many life-long friends. Professionally, Jim was a member of the Texas Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Southwest Academy of Restorative Dentistry. He served as president of the Central Texas Dental Society and was a consultant/teacher for the Dental Department of the V.A. Hospital in Temple, He was recognized at "Boss of the Year" by the Bell Chapter of American Business Women's Association in 1972. Jim was a devoted member of First Lutheran Church in Temple, singing in the choir and serving in many ways through the years. Jim is survived by his wife, Anita, a son, Kent James Wuensche of Houston; and two daughters, Lisa Wuensche Rambo and husband James of College Station, Texas and Dana Wuensche Van Breemen and husband Pete of Palmer Lake, Colorado. He has four wonderful grandchildre; David and Jessica Rambo, and Molly and Sarah Van Breement. The youngest of ten brothers and sister, Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers,and three sisters. He is survived by a brother, John A. Wuensche, of Victoria, Texas; sisters, Ernestine Ormond and Ruth Wright, of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Evelyn Bell of Anna, Texas The family requests that memorials be made to First Lutheran Church 1515 West Adams Avenue, Temple, Texas 76504 or Scott and White Cancer Research, 2401 South 31st St., Temple, Texas 76508
