
Graveside services for Earl Dean Reed, 92, of Hemphill, Texas and formerly of Rogers, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 20th at Reed Cemetery in the Joe Lee Community (South FM 2184) near Rogers with Dudley Watson officiating. Mr. Reed died Thursday, August 16th in a hospital in Hemphill. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Dove hunting, gardening and watching sports on TV were his passions. He was so proud of his family heritage and was no better exemplified than with his love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always had a boisterous howdy, a warm smile and incomparable hug for them whenever they came to see him. Mr. Reed was born April 30, 1920 in Rogers to Joseph Jefferson Reed and Tempie Webb Reed. He attended Joe Lee School and graduated from Rogers High School. He served in the Army during World War II. In 1941 he married Mae Gilliam with whom he had three children, He later married Maxine Hoskins, who preceded him in death. He then married Laura Fernandez. Mr. Reed had been a member of the Rogers Church of Christ and was a current member of Hemphill Church of Christ. He also had been a member of Rogers Masonic Lodge 602. He worked in accounting and bookkeeping for First State Bank in Rogers and ultimately retired from work as a Construction Job Site Supervisor at Nalco Chemical in Sugarland. Mr. Reed was preceded in death by one son Kenny Reed in 1963 and his daughter Carolyn Heugatter in 2005. Survivors include his wife Laura Reed of Hemphill and one son Ray Reed and wife Linda of Academy; four grandchildren- Darrell Heugatter and wife Sally. Julie Franklund and husband Jason. Jennifer Reed and Ryan Reed; two great grandchildren-Jackson Heugatter and Dawson Heugatter. Visitation will be held at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple from 5PM - 7 PM, Sunday August 19th.
