

Elijah Hernandez, age 37 of Temple, died Thursday, January 2, 2020 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Guillen officiating. Burial was held Monday, January 6, 2020 at Moffat Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 6-8:00pm Monday, January 6, 2020 at the funeral home.
Elijah Hernandez was born on February 11, 1982 in Temple, Texas to Jesus Hernandez and Linda Rodriguez Hernandez. He graduated from Troy High School in 2002 and was a member of God’s House of Restoration. He loved cooking and grilling for his family as well as competing in many BBQ cook-offs. Elijah was owner of Phat Farms and Hernandez House of Smoke. He enjoyed the outdoors, was an exception fisherman as well as raising his roosters. His greatest love was being around his family.
Survivors include his parents, Jesus and Linda Hernandez of Temple; his siblings, Irene Guillen and husband Chris of Temple, Jesus Hernandez, Jr. of Temple, Yolanda Martinez and husband Julian of Temple and Cristina Fastzkie and husband Dennis of Academy; nieces and nephews, Chris Guillen, Jr. and wife Selena, Hannah Guillen, Jayden Hernandez, Alexandria Fastzkie and Chance Guillen; and one great niece Everly Guillen; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
