Eloise was born on June 29, 1941, in McRae, Georgia, to the late Jack Slaton Bradley and Maggie Mae Garrison Bradley. She grew up in a loving home and graduated from Killeen High School in 1959. Eloise continued her education at Baylor University, where her love for the school and its community began. She later earned her master’s degree and went on to have a long and fulfilling career as a management analyst at Fort Hood, from which she eventually retired.
A devoted Baylor University fan, Eloise rarely missed a football or Lady Bears basketball game and proudly cheered them on through every season. She also had a lifelong passion for quilting, creating cherished heirlooms for those she loved. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Gatesville for the past 42 years where she served in many roles.
Above all, Eloise was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored deeply.
Eloise is survived by her daughter, Dondi Allison and husband Keith of Gatesville; her son, Brad Bates and wife Jayme of Georgetown; and her daughter, Tiffani Betros and husband Chad of China Spring. She is also survived by her sisters, Alma Dunaway of Lake Mary, Florida, and Pam Lay and husband Bob of Fort Worth, Texas. Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren, Ryan Allison (Ashton), Katie Allison (Matt Lozano), Corbin Bates, Annie Stangland (Cody), Lia Bates, Christian Santulan (Kara), Bradey Santulan, Addison Santulan (Randi), Christopher Betros (Lexi); and seven great-grandchildren Emmy Allison, Charlie Allison, Timmy Stangland, Tatum Santulan, Tripp Santulan, Braeden Betros and Bryson Betros.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Restland Cemetery in Gatesville, Texas.
Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church, Gatesville, Texas.
Arrangements are entrusted to Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
Eloise’s life was marked by kindness, dedication, and love, and a quick and quirky wit — she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
