
Eva Jean Dawson, age 85 of Temple, died Saturday, November 28, 2015 at a local care center. Services will be held at a later dateEva was born on April 17, 1930 in Camden, Tennessee to the late Eulas E. Pafford and Mary D. McKelvy. She married Dennis E. Dawson on November 10, 1951 in Camden, Tennessee. She moved to Temple in 1992 from Orange, Texas. Eva was a member of the First United Methodist Church. In 1975, she was presented the “Better Life Award” by the Texas Nursing Home Association for outstanding service and effective programming for improving elder care. From 1971 thru 1992 she was actively involved in the Red Cross as a volunteer coordinator, secretary of the National Advisory Council for four years and was a domestic Disaster Relief Worker. She was also involved with the League of Women Voters and was a troop leader/consultant for Girl Scouts of America. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and by two brothers, Fred G. Pafford and Glenn Pafford.Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Jean Niemeier and husband Stephen H. of Temple; grandson, Andrew Niemeier and wife Helen of Chicago, Illinois; granddaughter, Emily Niemeier Haberer and husband Adam of Temple; granddaughter, Sarah Niemeier Fowler of Temple; great grandchildren, Evelyn, Henry and Oliver Niemeier, Emma, Lilian and Zoey Haberer, Caleb and Macy Grace Fowler.
