Frances Hester Whitlow

Services for Frances Whitlow, 88, of Belfalls will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple with H.K. Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Mrs. Whitlow passed away Monday October 4, 2010 at a local hospital. Frances was born June 1, 1922 in Oenaville to Riley & Maude Hester. She was a 1941 graduate of Troy H.S. Frances married Buddy Whitlow in 1949 and was a home maker for many years until age 51 when she attended nursing school. She retired from the VA Hospital in 1987, but continued to work as an LVN until the age of 83 at local area nursing homes. Frances was a member of the Troy Church of Christ and an avid gardener. Mrs. Whitlow was preceded in death by her husband Buddy Whitlow in 1985, a daughter Sandra Lee Whitlow in 2010. She is survived by a daughter Lou Ewing of McGregor, a son Tom Whitlow of Belfalls, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to either the American Heart Association or to the Troy Church of Christ relocation building fund. Family Visitation will be Wednesday October 6, 2010 from 6-8:00 PM at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
