Garry Wayne Thompson, 47, (SFC U.S. Army Ret.) of Killeen died Thursday, May 31, 2007 at his home. Military graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Mr. Thompson was born November 28, 1959 in Baltimore County, Maryland to Charles William and Shirley Ann Bragg Thompson. He was a graduate of Richwood High School in Richwood, West Virginia. He had worked for Lerose Motors and the sanitation department in Summersville, West Virginia and had worked in construction in Bath County, Virginia. He enlisted in the United States Army September 25, 1979 and retired March 31, 2001 as a sergeant first class. Survivors include his mother, Shirley Ann Thompson Paintiff of Craigsville, West Virginia; Father, Charles William Thompson; half-sister Shirley Louise Paintiff Lawson-Cobb of Craigsville, West Virginia; half-brother James Lee Cash of Richwood, West Virginia; one nephew and one niece. He was preceded in death by his step-father Roy Paintiff.
