
Georgia E. McCormick passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Victor Pena officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. McCormick was born June 16, 1921 in Santa Anna to George and Effie May Sharp. She married Charles H. McCormick on February 21, 1939 in Temple. Charles and Georgia were married for 68 years and add another year for the "courting". She retired from Temple ISD after a 25 year career as cafeteria manager at Dickson Elementary. She was a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Vashti Chapter #32, Temple School Food Service and Harvest House Site Council, all in Temple, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her father and mother-in-law, Ben and Minnie McCormick, brother, Homer Sharp, sister, Tennie Goger and two infant grandchildren, Rexie Leann and Lonnie Douglas Stukes. Survivors include her husband, Charles H. McCormick of Temple, son, Lamar McCormick and wife, Karen of Taylor, daughter, Tommie Rexora Towne and husband, Ted of Harker Heights, sister, Faye Smith and husband, Homer of Temple, granddaughters, Jonna Evans and husband, Brent of Breckenridge, Temple Baker of Taylor and grandson, Cove McCormick and wife, Casi of Georgetown. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Collin, Jimmie, Julia and Watson Evans, Michael Joe and Gaven Ivey and Grace Emma and Addie Diane McCormick. She was a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. GG, as she was called by the great-grandchildren, by nature was strong and strong-willed. In spirit she was caring and kind. Her pallbearers will be Louis Sirny, Ronnie Chapman, Billy Joe Ledger, Hugh Smith, Eugene Bridges and Larry Stanford. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Strong, Nathan Mayes and Walter Buro.
