

Glenn W. Powell, age 68 of Belfalls, died Monday March 27, 2017 at his residence. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 10:00am Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Belfalls Cemetery in Belfalls with Pastor Donnie Witherspoon officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00pm Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mr. Powell was born on November 10, 1948 in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Thomas W. Powell and Roberta Witherspoon Powell. He graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School, South Carolina class of 1968. He was drafted into the US Army on January 27, 1969. He proudly served his country in Vietnam and was honorably discharged on January 27, 1971. On August 6, 1969, he married Patricia Pitts in Belton. Glenn retired as project manager from C&H Die Casting in 2015 after 42 years of service. Glenn fought a brave fight against cancer for 14 long years. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carrol and Marion Powell. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia Pitts Powell; daughters, Tracy Powell and Christi Powell McDaniel and husband Jay; “daughter from another mister”, Annette Franco; granddaughter, Jenna McDaniel; a sister, Glenda Bone and husband Tommy; a sister-in-law, Linda Powell and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone at Scott and White Chemo Lab and the nurses and staff of Scott and White Hospice for the loving and compassionate care given to Glenn in his final days. The family asks that memorials be given in Glenn’s name to the Ronald McDonald House, 2415 S. 47th Street, Temple, Texas 76504 or to the charity of your choice. Pallbearers will be Stacey Snow, Thomas Powell, Chris Pitts, Corey Pitts, Jason Pitts and Kevin Pitts. Honorary pallbearers will be Jay McDaniel, Eric Powell, Rob Bone and Brian Bone.
