

Glennie Wolle Richards passed away on May 5, 2015 at Cornerstone Gardens in Temple. Glennie was 101 years old. She was born in Somerville on April 28, 1914 to Ehlo and Alma Laffere Wolle and lived in Temple most of her life. One of Glennie's favorite hobbies was working in her beautiful yard which she did until she was in her late eighties. She also enjoyed crafts. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed having her family for holiday celebrations. She found pleasure in decorating her home for each occasion. Glennie loved to travel and led a very active life in community organizations. She held offices in various clubs and served in her children's school activities. She was honored in 1962-63 by the City Federation of Women's Clubs as Mother of the Year. She was also very active in her church activities at the former 7th St. Methodist Church where she served in various leadership roles. Glennie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Nelwyn Johnson and Betsy Johnston; her nine grandchildren, Brad Johnson, Kirby Johnson and wife Kim, Alana Jones and husband Jerry, Jana Nix, Kyle Johnson and wife Amy, Joel Johnson and wife Shari, Kristen McDaris and husband Steve, Kelli Richards, Kandace Porter and husband Jeff. Glennie is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; two nephews, Henry Thornton and Jack Thornton and one niece, Patsy Thornton Emmons. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, William Shirley Richards, and her son, Glenn Richards. A private family graveside service is planned.
