Harold Vanicek

HAROLD WAYNE VANICEK, SR. Mr. Harold Vanicek, Sr., 56 of Rosebud died Thursday June 4, 2009 at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Vanicek will be held at 10:00 AM Monday June 8, 2009 at the Seaton Brethren Church with Pastor Denise Mikeska officiating. Burial will follow at the Seaton Cemetery. Mr. Vanicek was born January 30, 1953, in Temple the son of Henry and Willie Mae Hutka Vanicek. He was a graduate of Rogers High School. He spent over 20 years with Ferrell Distributing and completed his time as a supervisor. He then followed his passion for cooking and started his own catering business, Double Czech Catering. He was a lifetime member of SPJST and was honored in 2006 as Fraternalist of the Year at Lodge #24, Cyclone. He won many cook-off awards with his team during the years he was part of the Central Texas Barbeque Association. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Doris Vanicek his son Harold and wife Deborah his son Brent and his wife Jennifer two grandchildren, Virginia and Henry; his mother Willie Mae Vanicek his brother David and wife Pat his brother Brian Vanicek and wife Joan his nieces and nephews,Terri, Charlie, Sarah, Stacy, Stephanie, and Sam; and numerous extended family and friends. Those serving as pallbearers will be Charlie Morton, Sam Vanicek, Ray Coots, Terry Coots, Billy Smetanka, Dale Porubsky and Harry Macek. A visitation will be held from 3-5 PM Sunday June 7, 2009 at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the SPJST Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 100, Temple, Texas 76503; or to the Seaton Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1051, Temple, Texas 76503.
