Helen Casteel, age 72, of Eddy died April 7, 2006 in a local hospital. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, April 14, at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Chaplain Vic Kilian officiating. Mrs. Casteel was born February 16, 1934 in Franklin, Nebraska to Arthur and Edith Casteel. She had been a resident of Eddy for over 20 years. She was head of the Democratic Party Campaign for President Kennedy in Las Vegas, Nevada and was invited to the inaugural ball. She was food service chef at the Mayborn Center and specialty chef for King's Daughters hospital. She was also captain at the correctional facilities at Gatesville for about 20 years. Survivors include one daughter, Hydi Sutherland of Eddy, three sons, Randy Webster of Yelma, Washington, Ron Simpson of Murray, Utah and Steve Whittle of Eddy. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
