Memorial services for Jackie Lusk LeFan of Temple will be at 2:00 PM Friday, May 22 at the Western Hills Church of Christ with Joe Baisden officiating. Those wishing to visit with the family may do so in the church's fellowship room immediately following the service. Jackie LeFan died May 20, 2009 at her home in Temple. She was born September 19, 1925 in Dickens, Texas to Harvey Sewell "Jack" Lusk and Zelma Blair Lusk. She grew up in Eastland, graduating from Eastland High School. Mrs. LeFan graduated from Ranger Junior College and attended Abilene Christian College. She married James LeFan on Nov. 25, 1944. The LeFans worked with churches in San Antonio and Baytown prior to moving to Temple in 1950 to work with the Western Hills Church of Christ until retiring in 1989. She will be remembered for reasons not trivial, because she was a special and "uncommon" woman. She was many women all in onea daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a child of God, lover of the good, the true, and the beautiful, a teacher of children and adults, and a benefactor of the needy. She gave herself to each of these relationships for the rewards measured in the coin tangible only to those who love. Her many accomplishments are woven into the fabric of our lives. The world is a better place because she lived. She taught a Bible class for women for 32 years at the Western Hills Church of Christ and spoke to women's groups throughout Texas. For years she provided monthly birthday parties for residents of a local nursing home, playing Bingo with them and serving refreshments. For many years she secured Christmas gifts for children in three different child care facilities. She served as president of the Reagan Elementary P.T.A. In recognition of her many areas and involvement, she received the Christian Service Award from Abilene Christian University in 1993. Her beauty was genuine, with deep blue eyes mirroring an equally lovely spirit. Her husband's heart trusted in her and she did him good all the days of her life. A model of purity and a lady of conviction, she was an example to her children. She was God's radiant and beautiful child. She inspired, encouraged, comforted, and above allshe loved. She was soft, but could be tough. Born sensitive, she knew how to share with others. She held friendships tenaciously, treasuring each one. She was rare. Few can match her. None can replace her. She made home happy. How happy the angels must have been to welcome Jackie into the Paradise of God. It was said of Abel of old that "He, being dead, yet liveth." The same can be said of Jackie. As long as we live and think and feel, she will be with us. Survivors include her husband of 64 years; two sons, Michael and Kevin LeFan, of Temple; a brother, Dwain Lusk of Houston; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and cousins. Her parents, Jack and Zelma Lusk, and a daughter, Loris LeFan Beimer, preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boles Children's Home, 7065 Love, Quinlan, TX 75474. To Odyssey Health Care of Temple, the family offers our deep appreciation for your professional and tender hospice care.
