Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Temple with committal to follow at Bellwood Memorial Park.
Jerry was born on July 14, 1944, in Baytown, Texas, to Elmore Buchanan Glasscock and Regina Albina Kapchinski. He attended St. Mary’s School and Temple High School before graduating from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan, Texas in 1961. He later pursued higher education, earning an Associate of Arts in Business and completing ATA Accounting coursework. Jerry also attended South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, Washington from 1986 to 1989.
A proud veteran, Jerry served his country in the United States Navy and United States Coast Guard, before retiring. He enlisted in 1961 in Bryan, Texas, and was honorably discharged in 1981 in Olympia, Washington. Following his military career, he retired from civil service, having worked at various U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard exchange facilities.
Jerry was a life member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He was a man of faith and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Temple.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane Glasscock; parents; his sister, Patricia Pospisil; and his brother, Frank J. Mikeska.
He is survived by his sons, Jerry D. Glasscock of Troy, Nathan W. Glasscock of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, Michael R. Glasscock of Ferndale, Washington, and Martin J. Kneeland of Austin, Texas; daughter, Jeanine L. Thurlow of Imperial, Missouri; and stepdaughter, Tamara L. Boswell of Belton.
Jerry will be remembered for his steadfast dedication to his country, his devotion to his family, and his enduring sense of duty and honor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Mary’s Catholic School.
