

Jerry Dean Scott, age 83, passed away in Belton, TX, on July 24, 2025. A native of Texas, Jerry was born in Amarillo to C.B. Porter Scott and Dorothy Boren Scott on May 16, 1941. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marca Mullican Scott; son, Justin Scott; and daughter, Emily Scott Banks (Ron); daughter Marissa Louise Scott preceded him in death; Grandchildren Kaitlyn Scott Gregory (Ben), Tucker Banks, and Jadyn Scott, along with Great Grandchildren, Rowan Gregory and Margot Gregory. Jerry loved being a husband, dad, papa, and great papa and considered many others as part of the family.
Jerry graduated from Tascosa High School in Amarillo, Texas, and completed undergraduate and PhD studies at Texas Christian University. A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Temple, TX, Jerry was a behind-the-scenes worker who especially enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School with his friend Bob. A strong advocate of Christian education and providing day care for working families, Jerry served at his former churches Bethel Lutheran in Dallas as President of the Congregation, Prince of Peace Lutheran in Carrollton, TX, on the Board of Education, and at Mt. Olive Lutheran in Austin, TX. He was President of the Board of Directors of Lutheran High School of Dallas. Jerry was an avid golfer who good-naturedly competed with family and friends. Jerry believed in giving back and actively planned and supported charitable golfing events throughout Texas. In his younger years, he sailed in ocean races and excelled as a squash player.
Jerry was the quintessential Entrepreneur and a true Visionary in the Healthcare industry. Spanning a 50+ year career Jerry founded seven successful Digital Health companies. His business concepts were profound and meaningful, from laboratory automation to healthcare data integration to medical terminology to clinical research to personal health management and patient engagement. One of his companies, Healthcare Communications, Inc. was named the ”Fastest Growing Company in Dallas/Ft. Worth with 400% growth in revenue year over year.” The product of that Company, Cloverleaf, today is still the most widely used integration solution in the industry. Few can claim the level of success that Jerry achieved and he has positively affected the lives of millions of people across the nation.
Jerry will be remembered as a kind, gentle, humble man. He committed himself fully to his Lord, his family, and the betterment of others through his work in the healthcare industry. Jerry will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2025, at Scanio Harper Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Private burial will be held at Bellwood Memorial Park.
