

Joe Michael Brady went to the Lord on September 28, 2023 peacefully at home. He was born in Cameron, Texas on May 20, 1949, to his parents, Leon L. and Elise Horstmann Brady of Buckholts, who predeceased him in death. Joe grew up in Buckholts and went to Buckholts High School, then one year at Tarleton State College in Stephenville.
After that one year, he joined the US Navy and served 4 years on aircraft carriers, USS Kearsarge and the USS Midway. With an honorable discharge, he went to work as a journeyman carpenter, then went to Texas State Technical Institute in Waco to become a certified dental lab technician for over 48 years.
When Joe was young, he loved horses, broke and trained them and was a calf roper. He played all sports in high school. When he was 5 years old, he would go fishing with his dad at Belton Lake and said then, he would live on the lake when he grew up. He moved to Belton Lake in 1978 and lived there until his death. Joe enjoyed boating and fishing on the lake and won the Farmers Insurance Annual Catfish tournament once. He was a lifetime member of the Lake Belton VFW and the San Jacinto Descendants. Joe had a deep relationship with Jesus Christ all his life.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Morgan, who was with him until the end of his life. He is also survived by Cyrenity Duarte, who they have a legal guardianship, his daughter Christina Brady Wilson (Daniel) of Copperas Cove, three grandchildren, Jacinda Thurman, Victoria Brady and Oliver Wilson. Four stepchildren, BJ Morgan, James Morgan, Josh Morgan and ReAnna Morgan and many step-grandchildren. One sister, Janie Brady Brown of Naples, FL and one niece, Andrea Glaser Meer of Orlando, FL.

The visitation will be on Monday, October 2nd, from 6pm to 8pm at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Road, Temple. Graveside service will be held at the Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Buckholts, TX on Tuesday, October 3rd at 11AM.
