Joe was born February 16, 1928 in McGregor to Eli B. (WWI veteran) and Myrtle Vaughn Gibson in McGregor and lived there almost his entire life. He graduated from McGregor High School where he was Valedictorian. After honorably serving in the U.S. Army Air Force in WWII, he went on to graduate from Texas A&M. He then returned to McGregor and worked many years at Rocketdyne Rockwell.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Gibson.
