John Brakebill

A graveside service for John Brakebill, age 85, of Temple will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:30 AM at Bellwood Memorial Park 8575 Airport Rd. Temple, Texas 76502. John Brakebill passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at a local care center. He was born on May 2, 1932 in Temple the son of Charles and Zora Brakebill. On July 1st 1961 in Abilene, Texas he married Margie Skurlock. John is a 1949 graduate of Belton High School and a 1953 graduate of North Texas State University. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for 12 years with Exxon Oil and then went on to commercial real estate as a property manager working for 20 plus years in Houston and San Antonio. He is survived by his children, Jeanne Riggs and husband Tim of Montgomery, Texas, Cathy McClellan and husband Mike of Crosby, Texas, and Monte Mackey and wife Sandra of Purdon, Texas, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Margie Brakebill, his parents Charles and Zora Brakebill, a twin brother William “Bill” Brakebill and 3 sisters, LaVera Harrison, Erah Louise Garrett, and Doris West. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Senior Care of Weston Inn in Temple, Texas. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Alzheimer’s Foundation (Alzfdn.org) or to the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
