John W. White, Jr.

John W. White, Jr., age 90 of Temple, died Saturday, August 5, 2017 at his residence.  Services and visitation will be 6-8:00pm Tuesday, August 6, 2017 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with a brief service at 6:30pm with Rev. Ridge Adams officiating. Burial will follow at 10am Saturday, August 12th, 2017 at Frederick Cemetery in Frederick, Oklahoma Mr. White was born on April 13, 1927 in Frederick, Oklahoma to the late John W. White, Sr. and Verna Viola Sheumaker White. He attended schools in Frederick and graduated from Frederick High School in 1945. John married the former Mary Helen Goode in Mangum, Oklahoma on June 14, 1951 and Mary Helen preceded him in death on June 30, 2012. John served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. After moving to Temple, John worked for William Cameron Co. for a number of years then worked for many years for Shallow Ford Construction. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church for many years and loved reading western novels. John was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Survivor is his son, Dr. John C. ‘Chuck’ White of Temple. Memorials may be given in Mr. White’s name to the Alzheimers Association (alz.org).
