

Johnny J. Dokupil, age 77 of Temple, died Thursday, March 12, 2015 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Sebek officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:00 PM Friday, March 13, 2015 at the funeral home. Mr. Dokupil was born on April 14, 1937 in Falls County, Texas to the late Louis Dokupil and Lydia Koslovsky Dokupil. He attended schools in Burlington and Rosebud and graduated from Rosebud High School. In 1975, he married Johnnie Matthews in Temple and has lived in Temple for over 50 years. Johnny worked over 45 years for Dr. Pepper Bottling starting in route sales, then worked as a consultant and later was a service repairman. He loved solitaire, bingo, and in his early years he enjoyed dancing. Johnny was also an avid fisherman. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice Dokupil. Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Dokupil of Temple; two daughters, Denise Dewberry of Temple and Michele Rea of Little River; a son, Johnny J. Dokupil, Jr. of Temple; a step daughter, Shanna Goeke of Temple; a step son, Kevin Abbott of Temple; one sister, Mary Buegeler of Temple; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Chad Dewberry, Travis Alexander, Riley Rea, Lance Goeke, Dustin Goeke and Bart Matthews.
