Julie Lynn DeBord, of Temple, was in her home when she passed quietly, painlessly and peacefully into her eternity future on Monday, September 19. She was a blessing and a delight to all who knew her. Julie was born on September 2, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, and spent her entire life in the loving care of her family in Temple where she attended Temple schools and First United Methodist Church, whose doors rarely opened without her. She loved her Friend and Lord, Jesus (Who, first, loved her), her family, her friends, her church, the Dawson Class, the Wildcats, Dr. Peppers with friends at 4 o'clock and Billy Graham. Her hobbies included many creative and artistic endeavors, among which was a Nativity that the church has displayed for many years in its foyer at Christmas. She and two close friends, Gay Kinslow and Martha Hill, served refreshments to the kids at Vacation Bible School for 40 straight years. This is but a capsule of a beautiful life, lived by Julie. Stories of her wonderful sense of humor, her service to others and special memories add quite a bit to this brief bio and weave a beautiful tapestry of a life, not without struggles, but well lived. Julie is survived by an immediate family of her parents, Dr. Bert and Ethel DeBord, a brother, Bert DeBord, sister-in-law Jane DeBord, a nephew, Michael DeBord and grand niece, Arielle DeBord, all of Temple. Her favorite niece, Lara Rodgers and husband, Jeff, and grand nephew and nieces, Jake Rodgers, Adeline Rodgers and Audrey Rodgers live in Plano. She also has a vast extended family, especially including her "Aunt Linda." A service to worship her Lord, Jesus Christ, and to celebrate her life will be led by Pastor Tom Robbins and assisted by Rev. Hubert Austin and Rev. Jane Woodward at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 22, in the Sanctuary at First United Methodist Church, Temple, with a reception in the Sanctuary following. An internment service will be held, at 9:15 a.m. on September 22 at the Hillcrest Pavilion. Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, is providing the arrangements, including viewing and a guest register . The register will be available at the church, prior to the service. Memorials, in Julie's behalf, may be made, in lieu of flowers, to the First United Methodist Church, Temple, or to a ministry or charity of choice. We thank you all for the many outpourings of love shown to Julie. We thank Maxine and Don for being there, the Staff and employees of Scott and White (you all are very professional and really do care), the Scott and White Hospice (God's special gifts) and the Visiting Angels (you really are angels), who all made this transition an amazing experience.
