Kathleen (Kate) was dressed and waiting when the Lord came to take her home on April 1, 2010. Born on January 25, 1913 in Oenaville, Texas to Ada and H.C Colbert, she graduated from Oenaville High School. She also attended Southwest Texas Teachers College (Texas State) and Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton. In 1935 she married Russell L. Gribble and started married life farming in Bell County during the Great Depression. They raised two children, Russell Michael and Kathy Ann. At 50 she returned to school to become an LVN and worked at King's Daughters Hospital in Temple. When she retired from nursing, she was called upon to continue to support her family and so moved to Schertz and later to New Braunfels where she lived many years in Eden Heights. She always thought of Oenaville as home. A lifelong Methodist, she played piano for the Oenaville Methodist Church and was also a member of the Schertz Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, Mike Gribble and daughter-in-law Diane of New Braunfels, grandchildren, Michelle L. Haag and husband, Jonathan of Cibolo, Jessica K. Permenter of Temple, William M. Permenter of Pleasanton, Russel L. Gribble of San Antonio and one great-grandchild, Katherine Haag (Katie). Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, April 5, at Oenaville Cemetery with Rev. Kissa Vaughn officiating. In remembrance, the family asks that you read the Twenty-third Psalms.
