Kenneth Ray Wadsworth

Kenneth Ray Wadsworth             Kenneth Ray Wadsworth, age 87, of Temple passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016.  A celebration of his life will be Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Scanio Harper Funeral Home in Temple at 11:00 a.m., with Dr. Jack Riley officiating.  Private burial will be at Bellwood Cemetery in Temple.             He was born March 2, 1929 and adopted as an infant by Ray and Pearl Wadsworth.  On March 2, 1946 he married Nellie Maurene Hoppe and made their home in Bangs for 40 years before moving to Temple in 1968.  They celebrated 63 years of marriage together. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 44 years before retirement in 1990.  He was a life long Methodist and a member of St Paul Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church while living in Temple.           He was preceded in death by his wife Nellie Maurene Wadsworth; parents Ray and Pearl Wadsworth; brother Wayne Wadsworth.   He is survived by his daughter Kay Birkholz and husband Howard of Temple; son Steve Wadsworth and wife Vicki of Temple.  He was known as GranGran to his grandchildren Mark Birkholz and wife Meredith of Kingwood, Chris Birkholz and wife Natalie of Temple, Jennie Birkholz Stuart and husband Chris of Round Rock, Shelley Wadsworth Jean and husband Jerry of Temple, Justin Wadsworth and wife Mamie of Georgetown and Clay Wadsworth of Tyler. He was very proud of his great grandchildren Kyle, Henry, Brock, Mack, Jack, Mitchell, and Matthew.  He loved being with his “kiddies” and wouldn’t turn down a cookie or a chance to share a train story.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to:      McLane Children’s Hospital in Temple or       Arms of Hope-Boles Campus,      21300 State Hwy 16N Medina,           Texas   78055
