Kim Dana-Yepez 54 of Temple died peaceably in the arms of her Savior on Saturday, October 29th. A visitation will be held Wednesday November 2nd from 1:00 to 2:00. A celebration of life will be 2:00 to 3:00 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Rd, Temple with Pastor Richard Gatto, officiating. Kim was born September 14, 1962 in Temple to Leroy & Gerry Dana of Seaton. Kim graduated from Temple High School in 1981. She was a cheerleader for 4 years. That was some of her happiest times as a teen because she loved acrobats and was able to show her talents on the field as she yelled her heart out for the Temple Wildcats. She loved going to cheerleader camp each summer as she learned new yells and motions she could use the following Football Season. After graduation she enrolled at Mary Hardin Baylor University in Belton and graduated, in 1988, with a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies. It wasn’t until a few years ago that she started her studies to earn her Master’s Degree. She was shy 5 subjects away to finish that dream. Kim loved doing so many different things she struggled to find which way her career path should take her. She worked at several different jobs as one being a Real Estate Agent and an-other teaching aerobics and finally realizing how much she loved children, she earned her teaching certificate and taught Consumer Science in Child Development, first in Belton High School and later at LaVega High School. Then she got sick with cancer in 2014 and had to end her career in January 2016. Kim was a selfless soul and always thought of others before herself. She gave many a student money for lunch when she learned they couldn’t buy their own and she had only an apple to eat. She would say she got nourishment from scripture and her Father in Heaven and she didn’t need food for her soul. She was dedicated to helping the children in any way she could and in doing so she felt compelled to buying one student his cheerleading outfit because she didn’t want him to look different than the other cheerleaders. This made her feel so proud to see him on Friday nights at their football games because he looked like the other kids out there having fun! Kim loved animals and took in strays many times. As a small child, she brought a huge turtle to live with her and then an-other time she brought Easter chicks that grew into large chickens that roosted on flower pots in the garden room. Any other day you could expect any other living animal that was running loose in the neighborhood. She felt that all living things needed a loving home. Kim fought the battle as hard as anyone could ever expect. She loved the Lord and would tell anyone listening that she knew her cancer was terminal, praying for miracle, but if God chose to take her home, she would win either way. Kim married the love of her life, Ruben Yepez, Jr. June 20, 2009 in her parent’s back yard. It seemed that no matter what struggles they endured during their short years together, they always managed to find their answers through prayer and Jesus Christ. She is survived by her parents of Seaton. Her Father and Mother-in-Law, Ruben and Irene Yepez, Sr. of Temple. One sister, Karen Alves and her friend, Greg Peters of Spring. One daughter, Heather Conde of Temple. One son, Heath Conde of San Antonio and one granddaughter, Harmony Aguillo of Temple. One Nephew, Matthew Alves of Houston and one Niece, Molly and her husband, Ben Cynova of Colorado. And a host of Family and Friends. Kim’s love of children and animals is why the family would prefer that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made of your choice to: America for Animals.org; A child’s Refuge.org; or Cancer Care.org.
