

Funeral services for LaRita Elizabeth Cartwright, 78, of Belton will be held Saturday August 31, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with Edward Wilks and Wayne Wilks, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in North Belton Cemetery.
Mrs. Cartwright passed away Wednesday at Cornerstone Gardens Care Center.
Mrs. Cartwright was born October 11, 1940, in Temple, to Oscar Cornelius Wilks and Mary Elizabeth Scales Wilks. She attended Temple High School and in 1959 she married Stanley Kirby. They divorced and in 1962 she married Joe Macek. Joe passed away in 1993 after a lengthy illness and 30 years of marriage. In 2004, she married Tommy Cartwright, a childhood friend. She worked as a receptionist at Peacock Beauty Salon and as a Unit Clerk at Scott and White Hospital. She retired from Belton Eye Care Center. She was a member of Belton Church of Christ, where she was active in the Threads of Love. She was a member of SPJST at Cyclone.
Mrs. Cartwright was preceded in death by one son Tommy Kirby; two brothers O.C. Wilks, Jr. and Wayne Wilks and one sister Mary Lynn Gamble.
Survivors include her husband Tommy Cartwright of Belton; her daughter Melissa Everett and her husband Dallas of Belton; her son Jerry Macek and John of Abilene; three stepchildren Danny Cartwright and Chris of Temple; Dina Cartwright of San Antonio and Dan Bailey, Sr. and his wife Theresa of Fort Worth; her brother Ed Wilks of Belton; four grandchildren Travis Everett and wife Imelda of Plano; Paige Lock and her husband Kevin of Temple, Jeff Kirby and his wife Priya of Temple and Jessica Kellhofer and her husband Mitch of Georgia; two step grandchildren Dan Bailey and his wife Alicia of Fort Worth and Crystal Guerro and her husband Tony of Mansfield.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
