Larry Douglas Wright

Larry Douglas Wright, age 50, died Thursday, January 11, 2007 in Austin. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, January 15, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home Chapel with Father Sid Gervais officiating. Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Larry was born January 12, 1956 in Belton to William H. and Janice Morris Wright and attended Temple schools. He held a degree from TSTC and Masters Degrees from Texas State University and Tarleton University. He was a master craftsman and builder by trade and became an educator because of his love of children. He served special needs children throughout Central Texas. He was teacher, counselor and friend to many children and their parents. Larry was an Eagle Scout and served many years as Scoutmaster of his sons' troop. Survivors include his parents, Janice and Dub Wright of Temple, one daughter, Lisa Brock of Temple, sons, Darrell Wright and David Wright of Austin and two grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Steve Wright of Temple and one sister, Sherri Wright of Round Rock, one niece and five nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a scholarship fund set up in Larry's name at the Trinity Charter School, Box 141125, Austin, Texas 78714.
