A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m.,Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with a committal service to follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held an hour prior, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
Larry was born on September 4, 1943, in Temple, Texas, to Hallie Joe and Mary Elizabeth (Russell) Morris. He graduated from Temple High School and attended Temple Junior College. On December 22, 1963, he married the love of his life, Rose Mary Collins, in the VA Chapel in Temple. Together they built a life full of faith, service, and family.
A dedicated public servant, Larry served in the United States Air Force and was stationed overseas in Thailand. After his military service, he began a long career with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Driver’s License Division, retiring as a Corporal IV after 22 years of distinguished service.
Larry was a founding member of the Ave T Church of Christ in Temple, where he spent most of his adult life as a spiritual leader, serving as an elder. He was a devoted volunteer at the Love of Christ Food Pantry, where he served his community with compassion and generosity. In his recent years, he remained a spiritual encourager, volunteering at Christian Farms Treehouse of Temple. He was deeply respected and honored for his dedication, mentoring, and development of Bible study materials to help others overcome life's challenges.
Larry was known for his kind and loving nature. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His achievements include being named the 1984 Outstanding Officer by the Department of Public Safety and the 2011 Special Needs Driver of the Year for Temple ISD.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, painting, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. His legacy of love and faith lives on through his family and the many lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hallie Joe and Mary Elizabeth Morris; and his brother, Jimmy Duane Morris.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of over 61 years, Rose Mary (Collins) Morris; his children, Lori Ann Curry and son-in-law Billy Lee Curry, Kurt Alan Morris and daughter-in-law Isabella Morris; brothers, Joe Kenneth Morris and Randall Hal Morris; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Nicole Curry, Shelby Marie Curry, Nicholas DeMaio, Michelle DeMaio and Michael Morris; and great-grandchildren, Russel DeMaio and Theo DeMaio.
Serving as pallbearers are Derek Morris, Justin Morris, Jake Morris, Jared Morris, Joel Morris, and Casey Burgess, honoring his memory with their service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Farms Treehouse of Temple in Larry’s honor.
