Larry was a man of faith and family. He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Temple. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, Bremond High School, and McLennan Community College, later earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Baylor University and obtaining his Real Estate License. He lived in several Texas communities over the years, including Bremond, Marlin, Waco, Houston, Burleson, and Temple.
He married Carolyn (Wilganowski) Wachel on April 17, 1977, in Marlin, Texas. Married 48 years, they built a life full of love and laughter. Larry cherished time spent with his family, loved working in the yard, cooking, and visiting with friends. Above all, he treasured every moment with his beloved granddaughter.
Larry dedicated over 34 years of service to the Soil Conservation Service and the Natural Resource Conservation Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Helen Wachel.
Larry is survived by his wife, Carolyn Wachel of Morgan’s Point Resort; his children, Lindsey Barton and husband Ben and Kevin Wachel and partner Jeremy Walder; his brother, Tim Wachel and wife Pam; and his granddaughter, Kinsley Rae Barton.
Those who knew Larry will remember him as the best husband, father, and Pawpaw—a man who impacted the lives of everyone he met. He always put his family and friends before himself. Now pain-free and at peace in Heaven, his legacy will live on forever through his good deeds and the lasting impact he made on others.
