

Leon Gail Harmon, 86, died peacefully on Monday, January 2, 2012 at his home in Georgetown, TX. Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2012 at the The Worship Place in Georgetown, TX with the Reverend Pete Seiferth officiating. Entombment services will take place at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Bellwood Memorial Park Mausoleum. Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, Temple, TX is in charge of arrangements. Leon was born in Lincoln, Kansas on September 17, 1925 to the late Amos Earl and Aggie Shafer Harmon. He graduated from Salina High School in Salinas, KS in 1943. Leon then enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served in WW II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Leon graduated from the Colorado School of Banking at the University of Colorado in 1954. He was in the banking business for 40 years and retired from First Interstate Bank/Wells Fargo Bank in 1987. Leon served on the Board of American Stores from 1981-1999, was a member of Masonic Lodge #26 in Riverton, WY, Scottish Rite of Sharidan, WY, KALIF Temple Shrine in Riverton, WY, Ballat Abyad Temple in Salt Lake City, UT, and a Rotary Club Member from 1963-2003. Leon was Past President of the Riverton, WY Chamber of Commerce and the Hobbs, NM Chamber of Commerce and Past President of New Mexico's Bankers Association. He was a member of The Worship Place at Sun City in Georgetown, TX. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Earl Keith Harmon, a son, Kent Fowler Harmon and his former wives, Katiesue Harmon and Dorothy Harmon. Survivors include his loving wife, Linda J. Harmon of Georgetown; his children, Steven Charles Harmon and wife Nikki of Clovis, NM; Gail Jean Patton and husband, Larry of El Paso, TX, Donna Childress and husband, Tony of Belton, TX; Ginny Henson of Sweetwater, TX; Bobby Burns of Fountain Hills, AZ, Marilee McGlasson of Dickenson, TX and Laura Lewis and husband, Johnny of Cypress, TX. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, who will miss him dearly. Pallbearers are Tony Childress, Bobby Burns, Larry Patton, Ryan Harmon, Steve Harmon and Andrew Harmon. Memorials may be made to The Worship Place, 811 Sun City Blvd., Georgetown, TX 78633.
