
Linda Mary Harmon, 87, affectionately known as Nanny by family, died unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011. A graveside service is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2011 in Temple, TX at Bellwood Memorial Park. Linda was born April 19, 1924 in Mountain View, Oklahoma to George and Mora Young. As one of five children raised on a cotton farm during the Great Depression, she gained character and strength that would forever influence her life. Linda attended Mountain View schools and graduated from Mountain View High School. Upon graduation she moved to Fort Worth, Texas and worked as a riveter on B-24 Liberator bombers at Consolidated Vultee (Lockheed Martin). A trip back home and a blind date changed the course of her life. Linda met the love of her life, Ellis Harmon and on February 1, 1947 they married and moved to Vernon, Texas. Two of the most important events in her life were the birth of their only child, Carol Lynn Harmon Liles and her only grandchild, Logan Liles. They later made their home in Temple, TX. Linda was as a hairstylist for most of her life, retiring at age 80 from Peacock Hair Salon. She loved to fish and was an avid gardener. Survivors include her beloved daughter, Carol Liles and husband Billy and grandson Logan Liles and many nieces and nephews. She was the last remaining child of five. She stood for honesty, loyalty and family. She will be greatly missed by the many people who loved and cherished her.
