It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lucille Jistel Chupik, a beloved soul whose presence graced the lives of so many. We gather in remembrance and celebration of a well-lived life.
Lucille, 83, of Temple passed peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
A celebration to honor her life will begin on Monday, September 1, 2025, with visitation from 5-7 p.m. at Scanio – Harper Funeral Home in Temple. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at St. Luke Catholic Church in Temple. A rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. The funeral mass will begin at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at the Seaton Brethren Cemetery.
Lucille was born on October 31, 1941, in Cameron. She was the daughter of Hubert and Lilly Hollas Jistel. Married 53 years to Melvin Chupik. Graduated C.H. Yoe High School in Cameron. Retired from Texas Rehabilitation Commission in Temple after 27 years of service. Followed by an accountant specialist at Temple College for 13 years.
Lucille led a life with warmth and compassion through her faith, approaching every day with generosity and an open heart. She was an active founding member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Temple, served as the Parish Chairperson on the Bereavement Committee, and an active member of the Women’s Society, the Clerical Endowment Fund, Catholic Daughters of America and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Lucille enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Family, friends, and community were at the center of her world. Whether offering a comforting word or extending a helping hand, her legacy is woven from countless small acts of love. She will be deeply missed, always remembered, and forever loved.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ethel Marak and Gwen Burns, and husband Melvin Chupik.
She is survived by her son Duane Heiner and wife Shannon of Ogelsby, daughter Mindy Heiner O’Neal and husband Brian of Montgomery, son Allen Chupik and wife Linda of Parker, sisters Janis Beach and Carolyn Klecka and brothers Clyde Jistel and Wayne Jistel. Lucille is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Sarah Reiger, Chaney Franks, Laci Heiner, Allison Heiner, Garrett O’Neal, Mitchell O’Neal, Nicholas O’Neal, William Chupik, Norah Chupik, and Lillian Chupik.
