Lucille Connell Murphy

Lucille Connell Murphy, age 96 of Temple, went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2012 at a local care center. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, July 6, 2012 at Temple First Church of the Nazarene with her grandson Rev. Gary Young, and Rev. Chet Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Lucille Connell Murphy was born on July 3, 1916 in the Joe Lee Community near Rogers, TX to the late Olan C. Connell and Abbie E. Green Connell. Her childhood was spent in the Dyess Grove Community. She graduated from Pendleton High School in Pendleton, TX and also graduated from the King's Daughters School of Nursing as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Lucille married James Arnold Murphy on April 4, 1935 in Temple and he preceded her in death on June 1, 1967. She retired from King's Daughters Hospital after 32 years of service. She was a member of Temple First Church of the Nazarene. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband James Arnold Murphy; her parents, Olan and Abbie Connell; daughter-in-law, Barbara Murphy; granddaughter, Jill Murphy Fooks; son-in-law, Lowell Berggren; and three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her sister, Mildred McQueen; son Jimmie Murphy and wife Francis; son Kenneth Murphy and wife Darlene; daughters Virginia Arthur and husband H.C., daughter Shari Berggren, daughter Glenda Young and husband James; daughter Ann Gardner and husband Doyle; 26 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Murphy's grandsons, Chris Arthur, John Lee Hilliard, Jr., Larry Hilliard, Scott Murphy, Mark Gardner, Cregg Murphy and Neil Gardner. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Murphy's name to the Temple First Church of the Nazarene, 5000 S. 31st Street, Temple, Texas, 76502. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Cornerstone Gardens and Scott and White Hospice for the compassionate care given to Mrs. Murphy.
