Margarita (Romero) Silva was born on May 18th, 1940 in Anahuac, Nuevo Leon , Mexico. She was the daughter of Jesus Romero and Maria Guadalupe (Tamez) Romero. She met the love of her life Santos Silva at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where they fell in love and got married at, on November 12th, 1966. They both became devoted active members of the Church for many years. Maria and Santos had two beautiful daughters, Maria Ramos and Teresa Silva Guardiola of Temple. Mrs. Silva worked as a housewife for many years of her life. She opened up a local restaurant in 1991 called the Mason Jar with her family. She worked as the head chef, but returned to being a housewife and grandmother after 2 years.
Maria Margarita R. Silva was a natural caregiver to all and everyone.
She was a babysitter to all friends and families babies, and to anyone else who needed help. She greeted you with fresh tortillas, and coffee or tea of your choice, or the kids’ favorite, tortillas with cream cheese. Many people always knew to find her in an apron in her kitchen, all year around. When Christmas time came she was the tamale go to lady, she loved hearing feedback of the people who ate her tamales. Margarita didn’t get out much whether it was because of her daily novelas, watering her plants, tending to her dogs, but her most favorite was being there to make something for whoever walked in that front door. She was a caretaker up to her final day of life, where she woke that morning made tortillas, beans and her famous atole for whoever was to walk in for breakfast. Maria Margarita was the typical stereotypical “Mexican mom” waking her daughters up to her favorite music, and feeding you till you couldn’t walk.
She is survived by her daughters Maria Ramos and husband Felipe of Temple and Teresa Guardiola and husband Ricky of Temple. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Daniella Coffee, Miguel Angel Ramos Jr., Ricardo Guardiola Jr., Mariestela Ramos, and Mikayla Anastasia Guardiola. She is also survived by her younger brother Teofilo Romero of Temple.
She is preceded in death by her husband Santos Silva, her parents, and brothers Rosalio Romero, Jesus Romero, and a sister Maria Del Refugio Romero.
