A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2026, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Burial of ashes will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
Mark was born on November 28, 1952, in Centralia, Illinois to Robert E. and Evelyn J. (Copple) Copeland.
Mark suffered an incapacitating stroke in August 2024 and had been under the excellent care of the staff at Western Hills Nursing Home since that time. He attended Belton High School and proudly served his country in both the United States Army and the United States Navy. During his military service, he was stationed in Alaska and the Republic of Korea.
Following his military career, Mark worked for many years as a Civil Servant at Fort Hood, from which he retired. He was a disabled veteran and enjoyed fishing, collecting old silver and turquoise, and preserving military memorabilia. He was attended by Interim Hospice during his final months.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn J. Copeland, and his father, LTC (Ret.) Robert E. Copeland, both of Killeen, Texas.
He is survived by his sisters, Mary Ann Hollomon of Columbus, Georgia, and Rebecca Lee Copeland of Louisville, Kentucky, and his brother, Robert E. Copeland, Jr., of Arab, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made in Mark’s name to Interim Hospice.
