Marvin Wayne Carter, 70, of Temple, died Sunday, December 4, 2005. Graveside services will be Friday, December 9, 2005 at Bellwood Memorial Park at 2:30 P.M. with the Reverend Jakie Shirley officiating. He was born in Henderson, Texas to Marvin Emmett and Mattie Wiggins Carter. He attended Sam Houston State University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a champion ping pong player. Mr. Carter was a pro-baseball catcher for the Kansas City A's in the 1950's. He owned The Charcoal Grill in Henderson, Texas for many years. He worked in the grocery business in Huntsville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor Carter, 1998. He was a member of Rosehill Baptist Church in Texarkana, Texas. Survivors include his daughters, Ramona Carter and Angie Carter of Houston, Texas; his sister, Margaret Jones of Henderson, Texas; and nephews, Mark William Beck and his wife, Marilyn of Chicago, Illinois and Bobby D. Jones of Frisco, Texas Memorials may be made to the charity of choice. Scanio-Harper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
