Mary Beth Lawrence

Mary Beth was born in Temple, Texas on March 6, 1933 to Leslie and Kathleen Wooley. She graduated from Temple High School in 1951. During her time at Temple High, she was involved in numerous clubs and activities. She was a member of the bible club, National Honor Society, music club, drama club, booster club, student council, and band, where she was band sweetheart and class favorite her junior year. After high school she studied business and became the secretary for city manager HK Dodgen until her retirement.

In 1968 she married Ray Lawrence, and they celebrated 52 glorious years together. They had an amazing life filled with faith, family, and friends. They joined Immanuel Baptist Church in 1981 and rarely missed a service. Both always had a coat pocket or a purse filled with gum for anyone they came in contact with before, during, or after a service.

Their wonderful, extended neighborhood family held countless potluck dinners and fish fries filled with bottomless chocolate candy dishes.

Mary Beth is preceded in death by her father, Leslie Wooley (1996), her mother, Kathleen Ella Wooley (1997), and her son, Steven Mark Winslow (1977). She is survived by two sons, Leslie Winslow (Theresa) and Grady Winslow (Joyce), a daughter, Jean Roderick (Kenneth), 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Mary Beth's entire family would like to thank the amazing staff, both past and present, of St. James House of Baytown for the wonderful care she received over the past year. Your compassion for her was a true blessing.

A visitation will be held on December 6, 2025 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home located at 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, Texas 76504. The funeral services will follow at the same venue beginning at 3:00pm. The committal service will take place at Little Flock Cemetery located at 600 Cemetery Rd. Temple, Texas 76501 following the funeral service.
