Matthew Maury Dupree, age 68 of Temple, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025. Born on September 27, 1956, in San Marcos, Texas, he was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and son who touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Maury was a proud graduate of Temple High School, Class of 1975. He worked as a locomotive engineer for many years at Santa Fe Railroad, where he made lasting connections and was respected by all who knew him.
Maury is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Dupree-Barfoot, and son-in-law Jon Barfoot. Matthew was the proud grandfather of Michael Barfoot, Matthew Barfoot, Madelynn Barfoot, and Rochelle Lopez (Foster), all of whom brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his loving mother, Taffy Dupree-Martin, and his brothers, Philip Dupree and Stephen Dupree.
Maury was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Dupree; his brother, Charles Dupree; his ex-wife, Julie Mader-Dupree, who was the mother of his daughter Jennifer; and his stepfather, Robert Martin.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
