James Mike Glover, known to family and friends as Mike, passed away on December 1, 2025, at the age of 77. He was born on August 30, 1948, in Temple, Texas, the son of Jimmy Floyd and Elaine (Bryant) Glover.
A 1966 graduate of Temple High School, Mike proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1972 during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Chicopee, MA, Whiteman, MO and then the longest in Goose Bay Labrador, Canada. After completing his military service, he was a paint contractor as well as owned a Fire Equipment company. He then earned his associate degree in nursing from Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas.
On October 20, 1984, Mike married the love of his life, Linda Louis Klemme, in Temple. Together they built a life rooted in devotion, humor, and enduring partnership. If you ever spoke with Mike you would know that he always felt his greatest achievement was raising their son Allen. He was his biggest cheerleader. Anyone that would listen, strangers on airplanes, he was always talking about Allen. Even the people at the local Whataburger knew what Allen was doing in school or later at work just from Mike bragging about him.
Mike dedicated his professional life to caring for others. He worked as a registered nurse at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, first in the Cardiac ICU before moving to several other departments from Orthopedics to Research. This switch to the Research department eventually lead to a switch of jobs to become a Research Monitor for St. Jude Medical based in Sylmar, California. His deep commitment to medicine and patient care touched countless lives.
Mike was a man of many passions. An avid scuba diver, he became a certified PADI instructor, sharing his love of the underwater world with others. He also enjoyed cycling and participated in several well-known Texas events, including the Waco Wild West, “Hotter’n Hell” in Wichita Falls and the Beauty and the Beast ride in Tyler. He also loved helping out building sets or donating tools at the Temple High School Theatre Department and attending plays and volunteering at the Temple Civic Theatre where he served as a Board Member. You could always find him sitting on the front row.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Clifton, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Glover of Temple, Texas, and his son, Allen Glover of Burbank, California. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Stephan Bryant Glover, and his niece Michelle Best.
