Nancy June Corwin, 87, of Temple, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at a nursing home in Gatesville. She was born on July 26, 1937, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, to Charles Richard and Phyllis M. (Miller) Merryman.
Nancy was married to Phillip “Phil” Lee Corwin on July 16, 1955, in Rochester, New York. Together, they built a loving and faithful life until his passing in May 2005. A lifelong Presbyterian, Nancy’s faith was the foundation of her life. She remained active in the church wherever she lived—teaching Sunday school, leading youth groups, singing in the choir, and serving as church treasurer, elder, and deacon.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She had a passion for sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Nancy also loved attending plays at TCT and reading. Christmas was her favorite holiday, a season she celebrated with unmatched enthusiasm and warmth.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles R. Merryman, Sr. (July 1977) and Phyllis M. Merryman (October 2005); her brother Thomas Merryman; and her grandson Kenneth Corwin.
She is survived by her daughters Debbie Stephens and Donna Brown; her son David Corwin; her sister JoAnne Williams; and her brother Charles R. Merryman, Jr.; Nancy's legacy lives on through her grandchildren—Brian, Melissa, Samantha, Kristopher, Natalie, and Miranda—as well as her 16 great-grandchildren: Landon, Paige, Madison, Jordan, Peyton, Emersyn, Kenneth Jr., Lily, Allyson, Erin, Paislee, Xander, Layton, Ellie, Wyatt and Dawson. She was also blessed with one great-great-grandson, Knox.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on August 16, 2025, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Temple, Texas, with lunch to follow.
The family kindly requests that those attending the service wear a shade of red, Nancy’s favorite color, in her honor.
