

Norman Lynn Jenkins, 74 of Kyle, TX died Tuesday June 16, 2009 in a Temple hospital. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Main Chapel of the Olin E. Teague Veterans Center in Temple, TX with Rev. Richard Beyer officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Mr. Jenkins was born August 21, 1934 in Amarillo, TX to John Harvey and Birdie Lee Hartson Jenkins. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed with the city of Wichita Falls from 1959 to 1972 in various position including Utility Office Manager and Director of Personnel. He was employed with the State of Texas in the Governor's office 1972-1979. Mr. Jenkins was an usher and a CCD Teacher at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church in Kyle. He married Mary Arellano at Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda, where he also was a teacher in the RCIA Program. Survivors include wife, Mary Jenkins of Kyle; one daughter, Andrea Lynn Jenkins of Austin; one son, John A. Jenkins and wife Cindy of Flagstaff, AZ; two step-daughters, Elizabeth Velasquez of Lubbock and Alice Velasquez of Arlington; two step-sons, Victor Velasquez of Irving and David Velasquez of Dallas; one step-sister, Maxine Parker of Wichita Falls; one step-brother, Tommy Jinks and wife Jo of Muleshoe; nine step-grandchildren.
